Accessible & Multilingual Mobile Website for the Cleveland Natural History Museum
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History wanted to ensure its newest exhibit, Fashion and Feather, could be experienced by as many visitors as possible—regardless of language, ability, or preferred way of engaging with content. They partnered with A. Calvin Design to create an accessible, multilingual companion website that extends the exhibit experience beyond the physical space.
Designed with accessibility and inclusion at its core, the website provides visitors with flexible ways to explore the exhibit. Guests with visual impairments can utilize their screen reader, voice control, and other assistive technology to browse the website and access the exhibit content their way and in their preferred language. CMNH worked closely with Cleveland Sight Center which allowed us to make informed designs and technical decisions based on their feedback. The ACD team worked with our network of translators to support the website natively in both English and Spanish. With a simple QR code scan, visitors can unlock a more personalized and inclusive experience that helps them connect with the stories, history, and fashion behind the exhibit.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful digital experiences can remove barriers, expand accessibility, and help cultural organizations better serve their communities. Learn more about the project and the exhibit at CMNH.org.
